Some Reminders and New Information

Doggy Day Care: Some of you may have pets and prefer not to leave them at home. We understand you can’t leave the kids behind J so we have made arrangements for a “top notch” kennel to be available to reunion guests at a reduced rate. Doggy Day Care, at 2729 Maricopa Avenue, LHC, AZ 86406, will be receiving your pets during the reunion and offering a 10% discount to classmates. Call 928-680-dogy (3649) and ask for either Lisa or Becky to make your reservation today. You can also email your questions and reservations to: Beckychristensen66@yahoo.comSomeone will be with your K-9 friend 24/7 providing food, walks and tender loving care.

How Many Are Coming So Far?: We’re excited to report there are approximately 350 registered with less than 5 weeks till the cut-off date. We anticipate 450 to 600 attending this year’s event and we will keep you posted as the final registration weeks go by. Don’t forget, the registration cost goes up September 22nd and the cut off if October 15th, no exceptions.

Some Event Reminders and Updates:
The High School Friday, October 20th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.:
This will not be your standard “stop in and say hello” visit to the school. Thanks to Sandy Galati and Mr. Genger LHHS’s Vice Principal your visit to the Lake Havasu High School will include some special surprises. The High School band will be on hand preparing for that evening’s football game. Also in store will be a brief cheerleading demonstration prepared by the high school cheerleaders in your honor. To top off your visit, the Vice Principal has committed to personally guide our honored classmates of the reunion on a private tour of the school grounds which will include existing buildings from years ago, the concourse with our old trophies and some of the wonderful new upgrades that have transpired over the years. We think you’ll truly enjoy this first segment of the Multi Class Reunion.

The Lake Havasu City Museum of History, Friday, October 20th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.:  After an extensive research of the artifacts and articles on display, volunteers agreed the Museum fulfills a major portion of this year’s reunions criteria. Not only will reunion guests be able to step back in time to Lake Havasu City’s origins but you’ll find an over whelming amount of the Havasu Herald’s history archived. High School article abound from the first graduating class in 1970 through 1977.

It’s amazing how many faces and names you’ll recognize in just a few minutes of visiting the museum. We’ve even made arrangements to have some of you favorite articles available for reproduction and purchase. Visit with fellow classmates while you reminisce over some of Havasu’s history. We’re sure you’ll find value at this location of the reunion. The cost is $1.00 per person, 50% off the normal entry fee.

The Dixie Bell Paddle Wheeler, Friday, October 20th Cruises at 6:00pm to 7:15pm.:  We realize in some cases it’s been a while since you’ve been behind the wheel of a boat or that it may be a long way from home to tow your own to Lake Havasu. You’ll find Friday evening on the lake to be a wonderful experience with friends and family. Captain Jim has reduced our rate to $9.00 per person for reunion guests and set up two special cruises Friday afternoon just for you. No Host beverages are also available aboard the paddle wheeler. After your cruise you’ll be able to step right off the Dixie Bell and be within a few steps of the Martini Bay, our final reunion destination for Friday evening. You might give Captain Jim a courtesy call in advance 928-453-6776 to let him know your coming and at what time.

Beach Party Sunday, October 22nd from 11:00am to 4:00pm.:  Currently we have 183 registered for the beach party. Although we anticipate approximately 350 guests, we ask that you include the beach party as part of your registration to help the Nautical Inn Resort better prepare Sail Boat Cove. Even if you have already paid for Saturday evening you can still include the Sunday’s beach party at no charge. No host beverages will be on hand for your pleasure and both the naked Turtle and Captain’s Table will have food available for purchase that afternoon.  Please don’t forget to invite family and friend to this event. We realize many of your parents or family friends might like to come down and visit during your last few hours in town. They may also like to visit with some of your fellow classmates. The beach party is design for this type of occasion.  Please note the Nautical Inn Resort would like to remind you; no pets, ice chests or personal beverages from home are allowed on their property.

Classmate Memorial Arrangements Saturday and Sunday, October 21st & 22nd:
Many classmates have asked if they could provide a wreath or some form of memorial to be displayed both Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. If you would like to create something special for a fellow classmate who has passed on we would be glad to place it at each of the events. Although we will not be building any of the displays we would be glad to position them and take photos for you. Pastor Nick Wright (from high school) will be delivering both the Saturday evening “Moment of Silence” and perhaps the Sunday morning brief service at 11:00am (pending) located at Sail Boat Cove.

Airline Tickets to Las Vegas: Here are a couple phone numbers and web sites for some discounted rates into Las Vegas:

Please keep in mind, if you make your reservation prior to 4 weeks in advance your fare may be considerably cheaper. You may also want to check with fellow classmates for their arrival and departures times to share the ride.

Dear Classmates,

As we near the end of March, we are only 6 months and 3 weeks away from your class reunion weekend.  After several weeks of hard work donated by the reunion volunteers, I am pleased to announce the ability to now register for the reunion on-line through the class web site: www.havasuclassmates.com . Shortly after this web launch, the hard copy letter will be sent out to the remaining list of those not yet registered. Special thanks go out to: Gina Frederico Thompson, Joe Cooperrider , Toni Trembley Ade, Dave Ade and Debbie Russo for their most recent efforts in rolling out the reunion invitation list and on-line registration.

We ask that you register as soon as possible to help us get the reunion plans under way. We also ask that you immediately book your room at the Nautical Inn before they run out. There are multiple events in town that weekend and Nautical Inn management has reminded us that room availability will diminish soon. Remember to mention the 2006 reunion when booking your room to receive the discounted rate.

We have meticulously designed this multi class reunion to keep the cost down, allowing everyone the opportunity to attend this year’s function. The cost of registration will be $60 per person until September 22nd. After this date, the registration fee will increase to $65 to accommodate last minute adjustments. The final cut-off date is October 6th.  This fee only applies to the main event Saturday evening.

Some reunion changes:

Friday Evening: The Dixie Belle is still scheduled to depart the docks for a sunset cruise at both 6:00 and 7:15pm. We have changed the evening gathering location to the Martini Bay located on the west side of the London Bridge Resort along the channel. This is an upgrade from our previous location and will provide you with a pleasant surrounding while enjoying time with your fellow classmates.

Saturday Evening: Due to the overwhelming response and some scheduling difficulties, we have had to move Saturday’s evening festivities to the Nautical Inn Convention Center. We are going to great lengths to make sure your main event is a memorable one.

Saturday Day: The Naked Turtle is located along the rivers edge at the Nautical Inn. It has been added to the list of locations to meet with friends. This out door establishment makes for an excellent daytime location to meet classmates for good conversation, lunch and beverages.

Sunday Beach Party: Things are shaping up nicely for a day on the sand at Sail Boat Cove. There is no fee for this portion of the reunion. Bring the whole family. We are requesting that you register the number of guests you plan to invite. Please indicate the age of your children so that we can perhaps plan some fun activities. The Nautical Inn will be serving hamburgers and hot dogs for a minimal fee. There will also be music and a no-host bar for sodas and adult beverages.

Donations: The Multi Class Reunion is unique in nature. It requires a tremendous amount of planning and accommodations to handle the hundreds of reunion guests arriving from all over the United States. We are asking for your donations to help facilitate this year’s reunion. Your dollars will go toward our limited decoration fund, and beach party agenda. With your help, we can make this reunion an experience of a life time.

Comments from your volunteers: We would like to take a moment to address the structure of the reunion. The primary objective of the 2006 reunion is to bring several graduating classes together in a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy each others company and catch up on old times. Your volunteers are going to great lengths to provide pleasant surroundings each day while implementing a creative touch during both the Saturday and Sunday festivities. Rest assured, your comfort during this reunion experience is our priority. We are discussing a few photos on the way into Saturday’s event for the local paper. There is absolutely no media allowed in the reunion. We have some special things planned to make your experience more pleasurable with out disturbing the objective. I hope this clears up any confusion.
